With the holidays upon us, spammers are sending out more fake eCards. If you get a message along the lines of "You've been sent an eCard from an anonymous friend", be very suspicious. Unless you recognize the sender, it's quite likely to be malicious.

There is a great tool for taking a look "under the hood" of emails. (Okay, this only applies to people using Outlook on Windows.) It's called Pocketknife Peek, and can be found here: http://www.xintercept.com/peek/pkpeek.htm While the folks at XIntercept make it available free for personal use, you really should take a look the full range of their products.

Our illustrious US senate just reintroduced their “Botax” plans as part of their mammoth ”health care” makeover which levies a 5 percent tax on elective cosmetic surgery.

SEC. 9017. EXCISE TAX ON ELECTIVE COSMETIC MEDICAL PROCEDURES.

(a) IN GENERAL.-Subtitle D of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended by this Act, is amended by adding at the end the following new chapter:

”CHAPTER 49-ELECTIVE COSMETIC MEDICAL PROCEDURES ”Sec. 5000B. Imposition of tax on elective cosmetic medical procedures.
